Want to watch your TiVo recordings when travelling and away from home? Would you like to copy and store your TiVo captured TV shows for viewing at some later point? Perhaps you'd like to make a video reference library of TiVo captured TV programs, even create your own TV series complete season collections?
With Foxreal you can easily do all these things. This guide will show you how to store TiVo captured TV shows to a hard drive and view them on Nook Color by using only one tool - Foxreal Video Converter (or Foxreal Video Converter for Mac). It has the power to convert TiVo videos into high quality H.264 MP4 format recordings for many portable devices, including Nook Color, iPad and iPad 2, Xoom, etc.
Here's the step-by-step guide:
Step 1: Transfer TV show recordings from TiVo to PC via TiVo Desktop Software
You'll need to have the free TiVo Desktop software installed on your computer (available from www.tivo.com/desktop). Once installed and linked to your TiVo, the TiVo Desktop Software on your computer will provide you with a list of the TV shows stored on your TiVo that may be transferred to your computer's hard drive.
Step 2: Run Foxreal Video Converter as the perfect TiVo to H.264 MP4 Converter and then import your TiVo files into it. You can select a single file for conversion or select and import several, Foxreal will automatically convert each file in the group sequentially.
(Tip: Enter your TiVo recordings' Media Access Key into the "Option < TiVo" of the program to load your TiVo recordings.)
Step 3: Choose the best video format for Nook Color
Click on "Format" to choose the Nook Color playable format you prefer. The Motorola Droid (x) H.264 Video (*.mp4) format is recommended here, it will quickly convert TiVo TV shows to the Droid X supported format at 854x480 resolution in HD which permits full screen playback on Nook Color.
(Hint: Click on "Settings" to click on "Save as" button to rename the profile as Nook Color H.264 Video (*.mp4) in Custom category of "Format" for subsequent recall and use.)
Step 4: Start TiVo to MP4 conversion for Nook Color by clicking on "Convert" on the main interface of the fast TiVo to Nook Color converter.
Step 5: Store your converted programs
If you wish to create a video library, after the conversion process is complete you may copy the converted video into any desired storage location including portable USB connected hard drives. And while the selected format is optimized for Nook Color, it is also easily viewed on a computer using many other popular media players so you can readily view the files at any time without having to load them onto your portable player first.
If you're creating a large collection such as an entire season of a favorite series, you'll need to first set up your TiVo to capture and retain the desired episodes and then copy them to your computer using TiVo Desktop whenever you need to free up TiVo storage space. Depending on your computer's available storage space you may wish to use Foxreal to convert the transferred video immediately, in most cases the Foxreal conversions will take only 30% to 50%% of the space needed to store the original TiVo files.
Step 6: Transfer the converted files to Nook Color via USB cable
Keep in mind that the Nook Color only has 8GB of onboard memory and that's shared with your photo, sound and other personal files so storing movies on it can quickly eat up the memory. Storing movies on a MicroSD card is recommended, and the way to transfer them either to the Nook Color or the card is the same.
(Tip: Your computer will recognize both the SDcard and the Nook Color as external storage devices. Just copy the desired .mp4 format media files into either the Nook Color folder or the SDcard folder.)
That's all! After the above steps, you can readily view TiVo recordings on Nook Color or other popular devices with ease. And if you're creating a video library, don't overlook the editing potential of Foxreal. Using its editing features you can eliminate unwanted material within recorded material, adjust lighting and color settings as well as raise or lower the overall sound level of your converted recordings.
