When surfing online, I have found lots of people have media sharing issues. Actually it is easy and uncomplicated. Here the guide will show you how to stream Blu-ray, DVD and HD media contents from your computer to PS3 with simple procedures.
To share Blu-ray/DVD/HD videos and movies between a PlayStation 3 and a PC, you have to establish a relationship with DLNA protocol between them. Since the DLNA makes it possible to share movies, music and pictures to different DLNA certified devices. Here is an easy way to help you use DLNA Media Servers from PC to PS3.
Windows Media Player 11
If you are running windows operating system (Windows XP/Vista/7), you can use Windows Media Player 11 or above to enable DLNA media sharing. First, make sure you have your PS3 connected to your computer via a network that is the same internet connection as your PC.
Step 1: Download and uninstall Windows Media Player 11 (I guess many of you already have.)
Step 2: Turn on Window Media Player 11. Click the arrow below the Library tab and then click Media Sharing.
Step 3: In the Media Sharing dialog box, select the Share my media to check box. Then click your PS3 (You may have noticed an unkown device appear in the white box. Actually this is your PS3), click Allow and then click OK.
Tips:
If you don't see the device, the chances may be one of them:
a)You have a firewall blocking WMP11 media sharing.
b) There is some port conflicts between ps3 and your home network.
How to make it work:
Disable firewall to check if it is a), or restart your PS3 (or disable and enable back media sharing in XMB under Network Settings). After each reboot PS3 will use different set of ports for media sharing, so eventually you should be able to get PC and PS3 see each other. The same also applies to a similar problem with other software.)
Step 4: Play shared media from your PC on PS3. After you have set up media sharing in WMP 11 and allowed PS3 to receive and play shared media files, you can stream videos and movies from your PC and play them on your PS3. Just use your PS3’s remote control to select the name of the computer that is sharing your movie or music content and then browse for the media content that you plan to play.
Restrictions and solutions:
However, the WMP can only support limited media files, as well as the PS3 and DLNA. So if you want to watch videos on PS3 via PC DLNA without issues, you should ensure that the media files you want to share are playable for both devices and the DLNA.
PS3 Formats:
MPEG, DivX, Xvid, MPG, MP3, WAV, WMA, MP4, JPEG, JPG, BMP, GIF, WMV.
DLNA Video/Audio Formats:
Audio LPCM AAC, AC-3, ATRAC 3plus, MP3, WMA9.
AV MPEG2 MPEG-1, MPEG-4*, AVC, WMV9.
Window Media Player Formats:
WMV, WAV, AVI, MP3.
