WHDI breaks out at CES 2011, mirroring tablet 1080p videos to PCs, tablets.

WHDI (Wireless Home Digital Interface) is similar to what you called wireless HDMI with Wi-Fi streaming. With this technology, you can stream videos among TVs, PCs, tablets, and projector. On CES 2012, WHDI brings 1080p streaming to TVs, PCs, tablets and projector.

What’s exciting to tablet fans, if your tablet and HDTV supports WHDI technology, you can mirror your tablet to HDTV and enjoy HD movies on both the tablet and HDTV, with no ligancy or distortion of the screen. There’s a video showing the effect of mirroring Lenovo IdeaPad S2 7 to a Sony HDTV.

It is said that there are two solutions to WHDI. One is with a small chip embedded into a 7 and 10 inch notebook or tablet, and the other is a stick plugged in any HDMI slot.

Unfortunately there’s no confirmation on whether the technology will be included with upcoming Lenovo tablets -- or those from other manufacturers, but we can expect more tablets and mobile devices manufacturers plugging this technology to make it easier and more convenient to stream videos among tablets, HDTV, PCs, and projector since HDMI cables do limited your action while streaming videos.

Let’s wait for more devices coming out with WHDI technology and enjoy streaming 1080p videos in any room to your HDTV, PCs, and more.
