Design Comparison
Before going to the specs war, design is a very important matter to many buyers. In that case, Galaxy S3 has failed to meet the expectation of the most of the consumers as Samsung has taken no risk in designing their flagship with anything exceptional. It is just an improvement of everything they had last year and the design which they claim to be inspired from nature is not an eye candy though in practical use it should feel comfortable. On the other hand, Apple has also disappointed their fans using the same design in the iPhone 4S as the previous iPhone 4. It is the same glass made phone which you should not dare to drop and better keep under some bumper or cover. Still if you like the look of iPhone 4, it is a good improvement over the iPhone 4.
Display Comparison
Comparison between the displays of Galaxy S3 and iPhone 4S is way too easy. Where Galaxy S3 features a 4.8-inch display of awesomeness, the display of iPhone 4S is still stuck at the practical 3.5-inch retina display. Of course, the retina display is a stunning one, but in the present time of high definition videos and games, it feels really small. Therefore, Galaxy S3 is the clear winner with its Super AMOLED screen, which is also a battery saver unlike the AMOLED Plus display of Galaxy S2.
Processor Comparison
In terms of processing power, Galaxy S3 looks way ahead of iPhone 4S. With its quad core Exynos chip with its 1.4GHz speed the Galaxy S3 easily ends the competition where iPhone 4S features only a dual core 1GHz chip. If you are going to play very high quality video, you will be able to differentiate between the two processors as the dual core processor of iPhone 4S does not do job as easily as Galaxy S3 does.
Camera Comparison
Both the phones use 8 megapixel cameras though there are lots of differences in terms of features. The camera of Galaxy S3 features burst shooting, face detection, best shot detection, auto sharing, etc. where the camera of iPhone 4S features HDR, built in editor and excellent quality which beats most of the latest 8 megapixel phone cameras till now. If you are too worried about the image quality, the winner should be iPhone 4S.
Software Comparison
In case of software, both the phones have some tricks up their sleeves. Besides other iOS features, iPhone 4S features Siri, the much hyped voice assistant that will do many things like setting alarms and schedules, texting people, telling you the weather, etc. by voice command. On the other hand, Galaxy S3 features a number of software improvements besides the Ice Cream Sandwich awesomeness. They are using Samsung's Touchwiz again, but with a different touch. As they call it, the theme is inspired from nature which also includes the sound effects. Another highly emphasized feature is the Smart Stay which does not let the screen to lock if you keep your eyes open. It also features S Voice, which does some functions similar to Siri.
Battery Comparison
Though battery life is not an important issue to talk about, we just thought of providing you a brief insight of phone batteries. With 2,100mAh battery on Galaxy S3, it can provide you 8 hours of talk time and same could be found on iPhone 4S with undisclosed battery specifications.
Price Comparison
No matter how good your phone is, pricing is what matters finally. Samsung Galaxy S3 is sold from $ 199 to $ 329.99 in contract with US carriers and unlocked device is priced at over $599.99. The iPhone 4S continues its trends and is available in various storage options, 16 GB at $ 199, 32 GB at $ 299, 64 GB priced at $ 399.
This is a war where you cannot decide a clear winner. There are many different and similar approaches in many elements of these two phones and each side has ups and downs. So the decision is yours and you should take it by judging the features you need.
